Intro to Music Makers at the Keyboard

6 1/2 to 8 years

Join us spring semester for this fun, 15 - week class designed to prepare your child’s ear, body and mind for Music Makers at the Keyboard, Year 1 in the fall. This is comprehensive musicianship class, designed to begin the process of building a solid foundation in music literacy, which means we’re not just at the piano but also singing, moving, drumming, discovering musical patterns, playing instruments and playing the piano. This class is particularly appropriate for children who are new to the Musikgarten.

Your child will explore own Amerindian music heritage, learning the songs, dances, stories, rituals, customs, and artistic elements of the cultures. We will also focus the music of Germany, classical western composers, and the works that they wrote during the period of "the discovery of America." The children are amazed as they discover their tonal and rhythm patterns appearing in written notation. As we begin the development of sophisticated aural skills, we also begin making beautiful music together in group ensembles.

Classes meet 60 minutes weekly, for 15 weeks, & begin only in the spring.
Tuition is $296 per semester.

This includes 2 CDs, folders, notation pages & games. Add a $10 late registration fee after January 5.
